Les Paul Copy
It was probably your first guitar. You could call it a Les Paul "Copy". But it wasn't. There is something DISTINCT about a real Gibson Les Paul. Its sustain giving weight; its solid mahogany body with a carved maple cap construction; its super creamy PAF humbuckers. Yes its shape. The focus of this site, the Les Paul copy, looks like a Gibson. It has the single cutaway body with dual pickups. But it doesn't have the fat tone of a Gibson Les Paul. Or at least most don't. But that doesn't matter. There are plenty of Les Paul Copy guitars that sound great, look superb, and play like butter. And this site is dedicated to them - to all those (mostly) Japanese 'lawsuit' guitars built in the 1970s and 80s in the style of a Gibson, but with their own voices. Some were awesome, others were terrible. Welcome to the world of the Les Paul copy!

The upper part of the pickguard measures 3 / 4 " , the pickup cutout is 1-13 / 16" and the space between the pickups measures a hair under 2-1 / 4 " . Here is a big project for a lawsuit era Ibanez les paul custom. Yhe guitar came to me with a frozen truss rod nut. The original fretboard was removed. I purchased a real ebony fretboard with real mop block inlays but the width is incorrect; You will get both fretboards. The pots on the guitar are original. pickguard and 1 surround is original. back plates are original. Some of the smaller gold screws are missing as shown in picture. Rare vintage Ibanez 1977 Les Paul Standard. Had this guitar for approx 32 years and unfortunately the time has come to part with it. A few knocks (mostly on the back - see pictures) but in pretty great condition considering its age. Original pickups died years ago and replaced with some Bill Lawrence 500L pickups.
