Les Paul Copy
It was probably your first guitar. You could call it a Les Paul "Copy". But it wasn't. There is something DISTINCT about a real Gibson Les Paul. Its sustain giving weight; its solid mahogany body with a carved maple cap construction; its super creamy PAF humbuckers. Yes its shape. The focus of this site, the Les Paul copy, looks like a Gibson. It has the single cutaway body with dual pickups. But it doesn't have the fat tone of a Gibson Les Paul. Or at least most don't. But that doesn't matter. There are plenty of Les Paul Copy guitars that sound great, look superb, and play like butter. And this site is dedicated to them - to all those (mostly) Japanese 'lawsuit' guitars built in the 1970s and 80s in the style of a Gibson, but with their own voices. Some were awesome, others were terrible. Welcome to the world of the Les Paul copy!

Great guitar if you want something in the vein of a vintage LP but don't want to spend $4k and have it weigh 13lbs. This one is surprisingly clean throughout. No major dings. Some yellowing in the binding and patina on the metal bits. Works perfectly. Low action, straight neck, frets look great, electronics are clean. Just polished the frets, conditioned the fretboard, and restrung with D'Addario 10s. Case has lots of wear and is pretty flimsy. But it's original to the guitar. Ships to lower 48.... more

According to my Fluke DMM they have drifted very little in value, and oddly enough according to my Sencore LC75 capacitor analyzer they both measure even closer at .06 mf. All original built in 1974 and loaded with Maxon pickups it is a fantastic sounding and playing guitar. Quality Japanese craftmanship built to last. Maple top on Birch body with a 3 piece maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The neck is straight , action low and plays flawlessly all up the fretboard. There is some fretware but it isn't really noticeable. These were mail-order guitars from Japan in the 1970's that were made by the Kiso Suzuki Violin Company. Modelled after the Gibson Black Beauty Les Paul Custom with three humbuckers, 628mm scale length with 22 frets on a bound rosewood fingerboard, it weighs 4kg's.
