Les Paul Copy
It was probably your first guitar. You could call it a Les Paul "Copy". But it wasn't. There is something DISTINCT about a real Gibson Les Paul. Its sustain giving weight; its solid mahogany body with a carved maple cap construction; its super creamy PAF humbuckers. Yes its shape. The focus of this site, the Les Paul copy, looks like a Gibson. It has the single cutaway body with dual pickups. But it doesn't have the fat tone of a Gibson Les Paul. Or at least most don't. But that doesn't matter. There are plenty of Les Paul Copy guitars that sound great, look superb, and play like butter. And this site is dedicated to them - to all those (mostly) Japanese 'lawsuit' guitars built in the 1970s and 80s in the style of a Gibson, but with their own voices. Some were awesome, others were terrible. Welcome to the world of the Les Paul copy!

Authentic Greco Custom. No serial on the headstock dates this to approximately 1975. The electrics look largely untouched with the exception of the toggle switch which looks like it's been replaced at some point. As far as I can tell the pots and pickup wiring is all original. The witch hat controls certainly are. You'll see from the photos the neck pickup has 48mm pole spacing, the first one I've ever seen and definitely original. Both humbuckers sound awesome as you'd expect

There is some discolouration, particularly along the body edge, along with small scrapes and dings??most notably on the bottom edge. The only really obvious flaw to the lovely cherry sunburst finish is the small dent in it where the back of the fixing on the scratchplate mounting has marked it. Pretty much all of these guitars has this. No scratchplate comes with the guitar but you can buy one for a tenner from the usual places. Otherwise, there are a few hairline scratches to the surface of... more
