Les Paul Copy
It was probably your first guitar. You could call it a Les Paul "Copy". But it wasn't. There is something DISTINCT about a real Gibson Les Paul. Its sustain giving weight; its solid mahogany body with a carved maple cap construction; its super creamy PAF humbuckers. Yes its shape. The focus of this site, the Les Paul copy, looks like a Gibson. It has the single cutaway body with dual pickups. But it doesn't have the fat tone of a Gibson Les Paul. Or at least most don't. But that doesn't matter. There are plenty of Les Paul Copy guitars that sound great, look superb, and play like butter. And this site is dedicated to them - to all those (mostly) Japanese 'lawsuit' guitars built in the 1970s and 80s in the style of a Gibson, but with their own voices. Some were awesome, others were terrible. Welcome to the world of the Les Paul copy!

Awesome guitar from 1978. Greco LP custom. I'm not sure of the model number this is the closest thing to a gibson that you could get. Has some hot P-90's in it. It plays and sounds amazing. Curiously enough the switch is only wired one pickup or the other at a time I'm not sure if it was done intentionally or needs a switch. lol. I can see no cracks or chip outs. The action is really low. The binding looks excellent to me. It was covered with dust that I gentle removed. Been dried stored since the purchase. Branded CSL for Charlie Summerfield Limited who were a UK importer and distributer of many products, this guitar was made in the Fujigen Gakki plant in Matsumoku, Japan in the mid 70's as evidenced by the spec which includes pre-lawsuit 'open book' headstock shape.
Cosmetically, this guitar appears to be based on the 1960 version of the Les Paul standard with gold reflector knobs and a slim neck which closely resembles the current Gibson '60's' profile.
